I have spreadsheets with firstnames & lastnames in one coloumn & would like to convert them to separte coloumns.
Anyone know a formula to do it.

Assuming the first name appears in A1
In B1, type =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)) to produce the first name
In C1, type =MID(A1,FIND(" ",A1)+1,20) to produce the last name

Tried that & worked ok on 1st line.
When copied down showed results from 1st line in subsequent rows.

Without a formula: make sure there is a blank column to the right of your column of names. Select your column of names > Data > Text to Columns, select Delimited and specify Space as the delimiter then press Finish.

Alternative formulas

B1 =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

(this avoids a trailing space)

C1 =RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND(" ",A1))
