Morning folks.
I've been totally confusing myself with an attempt at an Excel formula, I might be asking too much of this function, but here go's.
I program CNC machines and a common fault can be simply typo's. I have a few spreadsheets I use for finding some errors (Excess spaces, blank lines etc) and I am trying to create one that checks for missing decimal points on specific characters only (X,Y,Z and R only). Below is a small sample of program that I'm looking to check (They can be very large, and hence laborius checking through manually), each line would be contained within a single cell

WHILE[#112LE18.]DO1
G0G90G54.1P#112X0Y5.S#104M3B90.G43Z350.H2
M37
Z6.M9
G1Z3.097F#105
G91
G2X4.331Y-7.499Z-0.333R5.F#105
X-8.662Z-0.333R5.0
X4.331Y7.499Z-0.333R5.0
G2X4.331Y-7.499Z-0.333R5.
X-8.662Z-0.333R5.0
X4.331Y7.499Z-0.333R5.0
G2X4.331Y-7.499Z-0.333R5.
X-8.662Z-0.333R5.0
X4.331Y7.499Z-0.333R5.0
G2X4.331Y-7.499R5.
X-8.662R5.0
X4.331Y7.499R5.0
G90
G1Y12.F#105
#113=100.
IF[#115EQ18.]THEN
G0Z350.
#112=112+1.
END1

I have been attempting to create a formula to find each of my required characters (4 seperate formulas in 4 individual cells) that would find required character, check if dec point is present and add it if not. Problem I can't get around is format can vary, so start and end point of find varies. eg Z-6.0 or Z-16.02 or Z-160.123 or even Z-6.
Hope this makes some sense, any thoughts folks?
Cheers

Just re-read my post and should add that usually, decimal points get missed on whole integers eg Z-6 instead of Z-6.
The machines do not require a decimal point if either the value is 0 or it has been entered in a 6 digit format eg Z-000500 would equate to Z-0.5 it will automatically put 3 digits from right hand end. Hope that helps.

I'll mark as resolved, the more I look at it, the more impossible it looks. Give up and do something different time.
