Excel data has disappeared

I entered my year end financial statements into Excel a few weeks ago. Today I opened the xls file to look up a transaction and the whole of my 2009 worksheet tab and the Dec 2008 info has gone from the 2008 worksheet tab. I also updated the ISA worksheet tab and that's gone as well.

I'm sure I clicked the Save button before exiting. How has it disappeared? Can I get it back?

If you are using XP go to Start> Search> >For Files & Folders and search for them.
