Excel 2003 - unexpected blank workbook.

This is silly, but...
Excel 2003 works normally - but if I open an existing workbook from a folder (ie, by doubleclicking on the filename), Excel opens, the requested workbook opens and then a blank workbook opens - uninvited and unwanted.

Has anyone experienced this - and found a cure.

In Excel, Tools > Options > General tab > Untick Ignore other applications.

Thanks VOG - sadly that didn't work - (it was unticked) - tried ticking, restarting, unticking just to convince it, all to no avail.

Try this, open the existing workbook from the file menu in Excel.

That works fine - I don't get an extra workbook every time I open a file - just if I open direct from a folder. (And if I selct several to open at once I get an extra workbook for each - Excel's answer to bogof) It's only a mild irritant, and I guess it will diappear next time I spring clean.
