Evesham Wi Fi Switch

  kitkitty 21:05 28 Oct 2008

Can anyone advise where the switch to activate the Wi Fi is situated on the computer.
The Post Office help-line assisted with setting up the router but said the the switch had to be activated.
There is internet connection with wires.
The couple who own the computer bought it a year ago but have today only went on the internet for the first time!

Assuming a laptop try FN + F2

On some laptops it is the FN key & F10.

You may see on one of the F keys a transmitter/antenna like symbol on it, this is usually the F key you need to press along with the FN key.

There will be a button with a symbol on it that looks like ((i)) and you need to press this. Sometimes you press it on it's own, or you have to hold the Fn (function) key as you press it.

My thanks to the 3 people who tried to help

get the WiFi Connection working.

We have tried all suggestions and looked into

the Device Manager which states that there

are no problems.

The router works provided it is Wired to the

computer but when the yellow cable is

disconnected there is no internet connection.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Something to check Kitty,is the Service running ?

If Vista;

Start (windows orb) and type into the start search SERVICES and enter.
Scroll down to WLAN autoconfig,if this service has been stopped, restart the service.

If xp

Start / run and type SERVICES.MSC and enter and then as above.

Do you have an icon in your taskbar that notifies you of internet with limited connectivity ? once the wired connection is disconnected from the router ?
