Son's laptop is an Evesham Voyager 5815+2.6 pentium. Running XP Home, Zonealarm. The HDD is showing a temperature of 65degC whilst running. Getting lots of "freezes" during surfing or working with office 2003? Any ideas why HDD is getting so hot, what can be done if anything. Thanks in advance.
This is not good but also not uncommon, especially when running high-end games on laptops. It can be caused by a build-up of dust preventing the fans from producing a maximum-efficiency airflow. Taking laptops to bits for cleaning is a job for a trained technician, but you can try to make sure all the vents are clear and unobstructed.
