I am trying to set up a wireless ADSL (NETGEAR) Everything is working until i get to the bit where the socket number is supposed to light up.Is there anyway i can test my ethernet port on my tower to see if it is faulty. Regards Ian Main

As you have bought a router, do you have another PC or laptop that you intend to connect to your network? Does this not have an ethernet port that you could try?

The only other way I can think of would be to try another ethernet card (very easy to replace) or try connecting to another PC/laptop using a crossover cable (rather than a network cable) but these alternatives would cost you.
