I got a computer from my friend it is a emachines, he had alot of we'll say stuff on it and I just decided to reformat the harddrive to give it a good clean. I instaled my windows xp program(pro)on it and when I went to connect to the internet it was not there. So I went through and followed the steps it asked to add my connection which is cable and still nothing. I checked my hardware conection through the computer and it says there is nothing connected. I hooked my old computer back up and as you can see I am on the internet. Anyone that can help would be great.

Did you install the motherboard drivers for the chipset, lan card, display card, audio, USB2 etc

It would be on a cd that came with the PC if not you have to go to the company web site and download the the correct drivers for your model computer
