Ethernet cable connection

  Dinkenor 17:09 16 Jan 2008

I'm about to swith from USB to ethernet and realize that I will have to put in an ethernet card. When I look at the ethernet cable I see that there is no type of socket on the back of my computer that will take such a fitting.

Question please: Where does cable plug in?
Is a special cable suppled with
the card?

Would appreciate your help.

the cable plugs into the socket on the ethernet card that you haven't bought yet click here

Do you have a LAN port next to your USB ports at the back?
You don't say anything about your equipment but some modern mobo's are Ethernet ready via this port, but if you have nothing female like the male end of your cable then you will require a PCI Ethernet card as lotvic advises. Fitting is simple if you are careful:

There are lots of other links, just Google "installing a PCI card" (without the quotes) :-)
