Ethernet

I have a new PC running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I have noticed that the Ethernet light on the Router is flashing constantly and registering on the Zone Alarm as traffic, the other 3 lights are steady except when there is traffic on the internet.

I do not remember my old PC having the same effect on the router, is there a problem.

The router is a Thomson SpeedTouch ST585 v.6, it does seem to be functioning correctly otherwise.

I have just run a ping test from my old RiscPC (Acorn) with it as the only computer on the LAN and that connection only flashing whilst the ping test is running.

Any thoughts please.

You could always have a look in Task Manager to see which programme is using CPU when idle. Might give you a clue?
