Essential software for Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7 and my safety and performance software package includes and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and TuneUp Utilities Version 9. Does anybody have any suggestions for additions that could benefit me in terms of security, performance or the maintenance of my system? I am willing to consider both free and purchasable software.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Thanks for that. Any further suggestions? Any good antispyware to consider?

Malwarebytes click here free version.

I am not a great fan of registry optimisers or programs that state they will speed up your system. They can cause more problems than they solve. CCleaner is fine.

I would add Superantispyware.

So would you agree that the below would be a suitable package to have installed at one time?

Kaspersky Internet Security
Malawarebytes
Superantispyware
CCleaner
TuneUpUtilities

Cheers,

Mike

Looks fine. If and when the paid for Kaspersky runs out, there are good free antivirus programmes. One other "malware preventer" you might add is (Free) Spywareblaster.

I get it free with my bank account but I do like it because its quite a light app. Will have a look at Spywareblaster though.
