I wonder if someone could help my father with a problem?

He is running Windows XP and has started getting the follwoing message.

"The specified Module could not be found"

Does anyone know what this is relating to?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is that the complete message?

I have just checked with him and he says that the following happens.

When booting up as normal and icons begin appearing on the desktop, he gets this message "The specified module could not be found". He clicks 'OK' and everything runs as per normal.

How can he check to find which module the error report is refering to?

1 - run a registry cleaner such as regseek

2 - look in start, run, msconfig, startup tab and see what is loading at startup.

Sounds like a failed uninstall.

Also run a general spyware check.

He has already run 'Registry Mechanic' which found no errors etc.

Also done as suggested in '2' and all that is starting is correct.

Ran a spyware check using AdAware, Spybot and Trojan Hunter 4.

What other ways can he try to track this error down?

Thanks

You could also try CCleaner its free and I find it useful for removing bits and pieces of programs that have been left behind click here

Thanks for the post.

He has also run this after previous recommendations through myself and the PCA forum members.
