I keep getting the error message when trying to print "Error printing to Lpt1 due to an unknown system file. Please restart windows and try again"
I have tried restarting and no change.
I have formatted hard drive then installed and reinstalled print drivers.
I am running Win98Se The printer is an HP Deskjet 610C I also have a HP Scanjet3300C.
I have installed Office 2000 and JASC Paint Shop Pro 7.

Any help would be most usefull

Unknown system file or system error?

You give no reason to suspect a change in the bios, but have a look and see that the LPT port is set to ECP

Follow on from Diemmess. From a DOS prompt enter the following command:
DIR > LPT1
If this produces readable output then all of the physical connections
are OK.
