Im running XP on my laptop and everytime the OS starts up i get the error message

"Windows could not locate the .ini file. Please verify that this file exists"

When i click ok it goes away. Is there a problem? Is there anywy to prevent this message box from popping up?

thanks in advance

Use the Registry button, and make a backup.

Start menu/run, type

msconfig

Look through entries in the startup tab, disable all but essentials (antivirus software etc), reboot, gradually re-tick items and reboot until you find the culprit.

Or, use Process Explorer, leave the warning box open and drag the crosshair icon at the top right of Process Explorer's toolbar over the box - it might reveal which process generated the warning.
