Error Messages on opening Outlook Express

  ingatestonian 21:31 19 Feb 2007

The PC has been freezing and crashing a lot lately and on Saturday it decided to run a 3 stage check disk program that made several changes to files. I also decided to delete some programs that the kids ahave installed downloaded over the years. Result is it is working much better.
However, when we open OE the PC asks us to wait whilst Windows configures MS Office 2000 Premium. It then can't find a file called DATA1.MSI and says that the feature we are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. After cancelling the message OE does open and receives emails but these can't be opened ("An error has occurred") or new emails created.
Also seems to effect MS Photo Editor.
I had Office 2000 installed on old PC and it was transferred to this one but I no longer have disks. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I'm running XP

System Restore to before you made the changes.

My son has just pointed out that this problem doesn't affect his user, or others, just mine. Probably not worth system restoring, may try creating new user, unless any other ideas.
