Error message from avg8 email scanner

Installed Avg8 free edition after a period of using Bitdefender. When accessing emails from Talktalk thru Thunderbird I get the following error message.
"The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server responded: Invalid message number." Never ever had this before, even when using Avg in the past.
Has anyone got any ideas how to remedy this error.

Maybe try the latest version and see if that helps.

I think it is that version I am using. Got it off Pcadvisor cd and I think it is the version of AVG that was released in February. The disc is the most recent.

Open AVG and it will tell you what version that you are using.
Sorry I can't help with your e-mail problem but did google here= Maybe have a look and see if you can find anything until someone can give you the advice that you need.

Just a matter of interest are you from north of the border.

Temporarily disable email scanning in AVG.
