Error Log Query ???

  Kat440 11:52 04 Apr 2007

When looking at the error log in Help and support on Windows XP (because getting computer crashes).

I see this message: The server {F3A614DC-ABEO-11D2-A441-00C04 F795683} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Haven't got a clue what this means, if anyone can enlighten me on this i would be grateful

Many Thanks

There is no event ID number just a source which is DCOM and the date and description

Kat440, look in Event Viewer in Control Panel/Administative Tools. There may be an error report in there?

It is to do with msn messenger.

Have the live version on this computer and the 1 upstairs and there is messenger plus on the 1 upstairs to go with it, the comps are connected by an ethernet cable through the bt home hub.

But cannot understand why it would make it crash as the error reports are all the same code(the one i put in my first post)

Try turning off MSM messenger in the Services that you find in Administrative Tools in the Control Panel. There may be more than one MSN service running at any one time, thus generating this error.

Looked and there were 2 msn running.

Messenger & Messenger sharing folders USN journal reader service.

I disabled the second one, hope this works. Will have to wait and see!!
