The above error shows when switching on computer. Have tried to reinstall xp home, formats drive o and begins to load windows then the error comes again. Possible hard drive failure?
could be drive or the data cabletry swapping the cable with the one for your DVD drive and retry.
thanks, checked cable but seems ok
If you have the OS disc start with CD then choose setup let it look for a OS when it finds it click it to Select the press R for Repair
boot into recovery console from the XP CD and at the prompt type chkdsk /r
chkdsk run % starts to rise after 70% next line shows 50% completed and stops there with no further activity
try running chkdsk /fif you can get it to finish then it will have repaired the drive.
tried that run ok but still same error when started
May be a Memory Fault
Will check memory later on tonight, cheers
went into BIOS changed HDD from auto to large and all went ok
