Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\tyfkthxn.dll

The specified module could not be found.

Thats the pop up screen I get when my computer reaches the desktop on start up.

Can anyone help?

Go to run-type 'msconfig'-start up and untick the entry relating to it.

Google doesn’t recognise that dll and it certainly shouldn’t be in the \System32 folder.

Have you had a recent infection? It sounds as though your antivirus/antispyware has removed the malware file(s) but not the reference that loaded it.

Remove the entry by clicking the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

In the right pane look for C:\WINDOWS\system32\tyfkthxn.dll and if it’s there, right-click it and select Delete.

Repeat it for this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Whoops, I've replied to your post as though you have Vista. The registry keys are the same but how you get there is slightly different:

Click Start > Run, type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run ......etc.

Followed the instructions and no longer getting the pop up.
