Hi
My machine a xp pro sp2 with office 2003.

On outlook I have 3 email accounts, 2 IMAP and 1 smtp. All have worked fine until last night when 1 of the imap accounts came up with the above error on sending an email (it receives ok on that account and the other IMAP account with the same providor is fine).

I've run it through google but the problems posted, with this error number, doesn't fit my scenario.

I've tried using Opera to send mail on the same account and this sends no problem so it must be an Outlook issue, all the settings look OK.

Any suggestions

Have you tried entering the fault code on the microsoft website

best bet which often works is to delete the offending account and recreate it.

Hi

Yes I did but the articles found didn't really cover my problem - mine is an isolated problem with 1 account whilst the articles suggested a problem with all accounts. I have deleted and recreated the account to no avail.

Double check the smtp setting. Check the ports for the bad account and then check your firewall, anti-virus and e-mail scan to see if that is causing problems. Soory all I can think of.

Hi woolwell,

Thanks i tried that and compared the settings of the problem imap account with that of the imap account thats working OK - exactly the same (suppose that rules out the firewall/AV asboth imap accounts have the same settings.

Are the imap accounts with different providers? Are you using your ISP as the smtp?

No - both with the same provider. No I'm not using my isp (I followed the instructions supplied by my imap provider which have worked well until th eother day).
