The Evil Within 2 review-in-progress
I have an Epson RX620 All-in-One printer scanner etc. I have re-installed the drivers etc for this and now find that the scanner will not work in any application.
I have uninstalled with revo uninstaller, cleaned the regestry, checked hardware. Installed drivers etc again to no avail. I disabled the virus and spyware checkers.
Epsons website is of no use and apart from re-installing Win Xp pro I can't think of what to look at next.
I am at the point of chucking it out.
Any help please.
Forget the computer for a moment- check the machine in stand alone- does it perform in this mode?
If it does then look to the computer.
The USB connection- how does that look in Control/system /Device manager -any yellows?
Remove Epson sfotware - all of it.
shut the machine down
Now start as if for new machine.
Printer is disconnected
Fire up computer,
make sure all internet activity is off
Load software disk
Connect printer when prompted
Tell us what happens.
I know you have done some of this - but very often[and I am equally as guilty very often]
We get into a hiatus of frustration- and every thing throws a wobbly.
So start over
You have just taken printer out of box...........
It works as a copier. and I can print from eg MS/Word or paintshop Pro. BUT no scan.
I will treat it as a new install and see how that goes.
Thanks so far Jack.
It works as a copier- thats says the MACHINE Scans.
It Prints from word or Paint shop
So the Computer speaks to the machine and the machine delivers- so that's OK
So what is it not doing- The applications cannot find the scan mode from with.
Well as far as I know Word does not have the facility
But Photoshop certainly should.
Try a trial download of another graphics editor.
Tell me what the Epson package has.
It should have Epson Smart Panel- is that installed?
Remember that scanning images/photo's can be a long processing time after the scan- and you do have to designate a folder to save to.
I now have it working in Paintshop pro.x2. And I downloaded the driver from Epson's website.
I totally ignored their instructions for instal and went to device manager and did an update driver from there.
Having installed everything by the book and then discovering things we're just the same, I did it the wrong way round and now seems to work fine.
Smart Panel was installed.
Thanks Jack for the help.
I'll mark as resolved.
