Epson Stylus DX4000 Paper jam error message

My Epson Stylus DX4000 stopped working and came up with a "Paper jam error" message.

No paper is jammed and the error fails to clear despite going through the on-screen instructions which should cancel it.

Any suggestions? I am beginning to fear that this is the third Epson printer which has failed on me in the last year

Have you checked the rollers to see if something is lodged inside?
Or has something jammed before and you have yanked it out thus causing the error?

Maybe you keep getting more than one copy of paper going through so its damaged something.

No. Checked there is nothing stuck. Last page before it failed came out complete and undamaged and managed to feed anther through as I tried to "clear" it.

SCC utility reports "Paper jam"too.

Try feed in thin card through several times.
It is likely some minute debris is keeping the micro switch depressed.
Failing that unplug power and USB and leave overnight.
When unplugging power - do not switch the printer off leave it on and yank the cord.
