What are your opinions of EPSON compatible cartridges.

I require a black TO551 for my R240.

Genuine black will cost about £7-£10,on ebay £1.75 with free postage.

click here I would seriously consider one of these. I use a similar one for my R300 and they save you a fortune even compared to compatibles.

Are fine.
A Tip
Before throwing away a used genuine cartridge- remove and keep the chip.
Also down load the Epson utility - click here

If at any time you have trouble with a cart being recognised, swap the chop for the salvage one and use the utility to 'Reset counters.
or purchase a Zapit it device usually found at ink suppliers- does that same job- zeros the counter on the chip

I have used compatibles from Choice for some years. Those for my Epson 895 are already chipped, and my photos print perfectly.

I would not dream of using Epson originals and paying their ridiculous prices. Frankly, I cannot see any difference.

Thanks GANDALF <|:-)> for the link to a rather ingenious product.

The link you supplied jack goes to a web site I can not understand, thanks for the suggestion.

That's why I posted the question anchor,I just cant afford genuine cartridges any more, and if you can not see any difference, compats are the way to go,thanks

You guys don't know how lucky you are - £7 - £10? My Epson Stylus Color 3000 uses 4 cartridges, genuine Epson ones cost me £50 each! Yes I can get clones cheaper, but I would dearly love a CIS. Sadly though they don't seem to be available for my printer, in the UK only in the US.

Unless anyone here knows different?
