Epson C66 V LPT1 Port

My daughter installed Epson C66 printer software in her new PC.
But the screen message shows LPT 1 as the port. Obviously the printer fails to function as it is a USB connection.
We have the followed the advice of various forum members to reinstall the software, but we still cannot get a choice to select USB as a port.
I have a C66, and tried to manually add the same port reference as mine, EPUSB1:
But still no joy.
Clearly, we are not doing it correctly.
How do we crack this one?

1. uninstall epsom software.

2. Plug in printer to usb port and switch on printer

3. install epsom software.

No. Do not connect the printer to the computer.

Insert the Epson C66 driver CD and follow the prompts. Do not connect the printer until you get a message to do so. Then connect the printer and switch it on.

Thanks pj123.
We did try that - but no joy

Suggestion. Remove all printers from your system and physically disconnect them from your computer.

You haven't said what O/S you have?

Once done, shut down and reboot. Put the C66 printer driver CD in and follow the prompts again. Do not connect the printer until told to do so.

had same problem with a C44

cured by uninstall printers, reboot, plug into usb port, let XP find new hardware and point XP to drivers on the CD.

Thank you, Fruit Bat & pj123.

I shall relay this information to my daughter.

Her OS is Windows 98SE

For information, she confirms the USB ports work. She tried her digital camera.

I have finally cracked the USB problem. Using the archives.R300 USB Printer ETC. the response by Cook2 on the 31st Dec 2004 at 20.24. solved the problem.
