epson c 40 plus printer

My 3 year old epson c 40 plus printer will not print black ink.I have tried all the obvious,new cartridge clean nozzle etc,has the printer had its day ?.

It's an unfortunate disadvantage of Epson printers that if the ink is allowed to dry in the printhead that there is little chance of saving the printer. You can get cleaning cartridges, or you can try soaking the printhead in isopropyl alcohol but I doubt that it will help.

This article on cleaning Epson heads works.
I have used the method several times on printers that have been lying for years. I just use a mixture of vodka and distilled water having no isopropyl alcohol available.
It does take some time and with the cost of printers you may consider it not worthwhile.
Epson are bad news and you are much better off with a make that has the heads in rhe cartridges.
