I have got a epson 830U which I use compatible ink with.If I try to use it after not printing for a while I have to use a full cartride to get it going. Is there a flush or something I can use to maintain it.Cleaning the printer with the ink is getting expensive.

When you say compatitable ink do you mean the genuine ink or the other cheap stuff? Epson does not recommend the cheap ink and nor do I. It really damages your printer.

The cheap stuff from one of the pc mags.

zeppman,

I used compatible cartridges on an Epson 830U for many years, without any problems.

Today i also use compatible cartridges on an Epson photo R220.

The secret is, if you are not going to be printing for a while, remove the cartridges from the printer, and cover the heads on the cartridges fully with clingwrap, making sure you do not touch the chip on the cartridge.
