Emails have vanished....

The other day, I logged into my account to discover that all of my previous emails had vanished - all the folders I created are gone, and only new messages received after logging in are there.

Other users (wife and kids) have all of their emails still.

Does anyone have a clue:

a) how this can happen?
b) where I might find them?
c) if I can't get them on my machine, is it likely that my ISP (email provider) might have a copy?

If it helps at all, I've got the demo version of Acronis True Image Home 2009 which seems to still be running a backup at 20:30 every evening despite being out of the trial period. Perhaps I can buy the full version and restore one of those backups so I get my emails back?

What email client are you using? - Outlook Express?

I use OEView (see: click here), which allows you to view deleted messages.

First, however, have you keyed


into the Search box (Files and Folders)from the Start menu?

I've tried searching for *.dbx.

I'll try again....should I not use the * wildcard?

*.dbx is fine - but I would do a search for just Inbox and see what it finds and where.

in the Files and Folders section of Search.
