Email OK but no web access

Firstly, aplogogies if this is an old saw but I can't find a similar query.

Standard sort of P4 computer connected to bt broadband via Netgear hub and D-Link router. Connected to I/net OK, cos I can get my emails and AVG auto update works. But when I fire up IE it gives me a message bottom left: 'Connecting to' then times out. Firefox and Opera behave similarly.

I've checked all the setting I can think of against the other two machines on the LAN but can't see the problem.

tracert (just for example) - see how far it gets before it fails at, if at all.

Aplogies for not replying sooner. Been away. Tracert times out at about the 4th hop having tried 3 different IP addresses.

is the fourth hop within your providers domain?

follow threads to bottom two, they may offer a solution, if you have not already scanned for spy/mal ware might be a good idea also

Fixed it! With WinsockxpFix as suggested by Santos7.
