EIDE Hard drive

I have been offered a new 250Gb hard disc at a very advantageous price, but I notice on the spec. it says Serial ATA 300. Will this work as slave on my machine which already has an ATA 100 disc installed as master.
I've tried to google it and as far as I can see the only difference is its robustness. Any advice please ?

Not unless your motherboard has a SATA connection onboard. You can get an IDE to SATA converter though, it should work with that. click here

Sorry, typo on my part. It is an EIDE not SATA. Must learn to concentrate !

You're good to go then amonra, EIDE/IDE/PATA/ATA, are just different acronyms for the same thing. So if the new drive is EIDE then you can use it as a slave to your present drive. Remember to set the jumper to the Slave position on the back of the drive.
