edit scanned documents

hi i am looking for a free packages that will allow me to scan a document or image & alter the text & keep it in the same font.

Did you not get an OCR package with your scanner?

I'm not aware of any free OCR packages that will retain page layout or font styles, they generally just output the raw text to an RTF file.

My Epson scanner came with Abbyy FineReader 6 Sprint, which does a pretty good job. Previously I'd used Read Iris, but i've stuck with Abbyy seeing as it does everything I need...

no, but i did have packages before but cant remeber what you call it. it was a package that allowed me to alter images,texts,photos, i scanned in. just looking for something like that.

I would use Server 3 to download from - the first two seem problematic.

The program I suggested is called Free OCR 2.6 and it's free.
