Edit pdf &/or scanned text sheet

  Furkin 20:52 03 Dec 2008

I've been trying to help a friend to collate some letters and files,,,, but most of them are Scanned pages of text, & I couldn't get into them to edit.

I'm sure I saw a post about this a month or so ago, but I can't seem to find it.

Is it possible to do this please ?

many thanks

If they were scanned directly then they will not be editable, but just like photo's.

If they were OCR scanned then they should be editable.

Most good scanners are accompanied by OCR software for just this purpose.

As usual Techno,,,, you came up with the goods.

I have Winfax 9 which is supposed to have some OCR in it,,,, bit it's probably way too old (resolution-wise) - & I can't seem to use it anyway.
The scanner is a Brother 'all-in-one' MFC 5480CN. Does anyone know if it has ocr,,,, or if it's available for this machine please ?
TT: Have downloaded the suggested prog, & on the face of it, seems to work great - thanks.
I managed to 'scan' an A4 sheet of text into it, then Open it up for editing. Not 100% accurate,,,, but close enough to work with.

I've not tried Opening a 'saved' file yet,,,, that will be later today.

The prog looks as if it opens pdf as well as ocr stuff,,,,

many thanks again TT

Even very expensive OCR programs don't always get everything exact. I am sure you will be fine now with the one I suggested.

Anyway, my pleasure ......... Cheers.
