An easy one that I can't solve

When I click on "My Documents" and other folder I use to have a list across the top. That said the usual File, view and a few other bits and pices in text.

Now all I have is 6 Icons Backwards, Forward, up one folder, search view and so on.

How do I get the text back. I know it's easy but I'm lost.

In My Documents click on View and then on Choose Details.

Or, if this is not what you are after, do a System Restore back a few days to when it was as you prefer it.

cheers, but that not the bit i've lost.

The I now have a view icon as opposed to the actual text across the top. This is the bit I'm missing.

I think the technical term is, I've lost the menu bar.

Try pressing F11

Are you using Vista? If so:

1. Click Start button, type explorer in the Start Search box, and then click Windows Explorer in the Programs list.
2. Click Organize, click to select the Layout check box, and then click Menu Bar.

F11 doesn't work.

I'm using XP

The menu bar is still there when I use Internet Explorer.

I've just to so used to using it when managing things in my folders, I'm lost without it.

Well I'd already tried the folder optins thing, that didn't work.

I tried the registry thing, there was no IT Bar layout value. Just REG_SZ Value not set.

Anyway I did a system restore, which failed. But when the computer reboted, everything is back to normal.

So I'm smiling again.

Many thanks for quick responses.

Mark
