When I click on "My Documents" and other folder I use to have a list across the top. That said the usual File, view and a few other bits and pices in text.Now all I have is 6 Icons Backwards, Forward, up one folder, search view and so on.How do I get the text back. I know it's easy but I'm lost.
In My Documents click on View and then on Choose Details.
Or, if this is not what you are after, do a System Restore back a few days to when it was as you prefer it.
cheers, but that not the bit i've lost.The I now have a view icon as opposed to the actual text across the top. This is the bit I'm missing.
I think the technical term is, I've lost the menu bar.
Try pressing F11

F11 doesn't work.I'm using XPThe menu bar is still there when I use Internet Explorer.I've just to so used to using it when managing things in my folders, I'm lost without it.
Tools - folder options - view - restore defaults.

Well I'd already tried the folder optins thing, that didn't work.I tried the registry thing, there was no IT Bar layout value. Just REG_SZ Value not set.Anyway I did a system restore, which failed. But when the computer reboted, everything is back to normal. So I'm smiling again.Many thanks for quick responses.Mark
