earphones port not working

i have windows xp installed on my computer on the front of my tower is a hole for ear phones when i plug the ear phones inn i dont get no sound can any one help the ear phones do work by the way in my phone but dont work in my tower the ear phones did use to work but now does not, my computer is an amd athlon with 1.54 ghz with 1.00 gb of ram i all so have sevice pack 2 installed hope this helps.

Power on, Press Delete or F2 key depends on your Bios Manufacture (often Delete) to Going to Bios Setting. Find Integrated Devices or Browsing in this Topic to find out the setting for Sound and Enbable the Front jack.

Do the earphones work from the socket on the rear of the tower?

If they do, it's possible the fron socket is not wired up at all, or incorrectly wited to the motherboard.

Look inside the case and see if you can tell that the sockets are connected to the motherboard.
