E-Mail rejection

I have received an e-mail from a friend in South Africa attaching family photographs. The attachment carries the suffix .MIX and took several minutes to receive. Above the name of the sender in the message box was the message "OE removed access to the following attachments in your mail: grandma, grandad and grandkids.mix"

I am using Outlook Express 6.

Any ideas on this anyone please?

Select Tools - Options - Security. Untick the box which says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

This is there for safety reasons because viruses are usually sent as attachments. If you untick it, hopefully you've got a good anti-virus software which is up to date. You could then save attachments which you are not sure of, scan them with the anti virus before opening them - or delete them if they are not from a trusted source.

After doing what Peter E suggests, the attachment SHOULD be available to you. If it isn't you'll have to get it re-sent.
