e-mail link problem

  Gwynedd 12:41 16 Mar 2012

Suddenly, whenever I try to 'open' an e-mail link, Windows (Vista)gives me the message "Windows cannot find.........." What is happening, and how do I rectify this?

What e-mail client are you using? Which browser is your default browser?

Use Outlook Express and Google Chrome, with OE as default.

Is Google Chrome you default browser or Internet Explorer?

It looks like a security setting issue. Check these settings in Outlook.

Page 1:Tick box at bottom of page.

Page 2:Use POP.gmail.com not pop3,gmail. and smtp.gmail.com- Tick bottom box- Requires authorisation

Page 3:If using an always on broadband tick box and apply

Page 4:Leave as it is

Page 5:Tick top 2 boxes:smtp should be 25 Pop change to 995.

If this does not work go to the Google mail and check enable POP is enabled. A recent update may have disabled it.

Terry Brown - That is email settings. How will this sort out e-mail links opening? It may not be gmail.
