I have set up Outlook Express to receive mail from google. However when a message arrives in O E it is duplicated

It may be worth checking that the account isn't setup to leave a copy of
messages on the server. In OE, Tools - Accounts - Mail, select account and
Properties - Advanced ...

or check that the account hasnt been added twicwe to the accounts

or it could be "Pop3uidl.dbx" file, do a search/find for "pop3uidl.dbx". The next time you check for mail, all the messages on the server will be downloaded again, but a new "Pop3uidl.dbx" will be created that should work properly on subsequent mail checks.

also The Pop3uidl.dbx file is probably a hidden file so it won't turn up on a search until you un-hide it.

Open My Computer, go to Tools>Folder Options>Advanced tab and check "Show all hidden files and folders" and un-check "Hide extensions of known files types," Click OK.
