XP Home,1.5 Pentium, Geforce 4 TI200.
Above system - no probs for 2 years.
Switched on and only able to get 800x600 res.
Was using v 61.77 12mb driver with this card.
Went back to v 53.03 8.38mb driver, resolution fixed, but cannot start some games/ programmes.
Reinstalled v 61.77. resolution problem still fixed, but still can't load some progs.
Dxdiag test - "system" tab will not complete.
Message is:-
"ERROR: Problem getting input info, result code = 0x80070057 (invalid argument(s)) "

Direct 3D test throws me back to the desktop.
Any suggestions or help would be very welcome.
Have downloaded new driver v93.71 40.5mb (why so big?) but feel I should research/ask before I do anything further.

Thanks and hoping - Danpost

Un-install/re-install Direct X?

  brundle 19:10 01 Feb 2007

DirectX9 here click here

Thanks both.
Sorry, only on dial-up and will drop my connection over 59mb.
Will search around for a hard copy, but when I find it, how do I uninstall what I've got first?

no need to uninstall the new version will go straight over the top.if you know someone with a newish game you could browse thecd/dvd for the directx file which is included on game discs.

Thanks to all three of you.
Firstly - to point out its a Direct X problem
Secondly to push me closer to B/B and a new 'pooter.
Thirdly to pointing me to a game CD/DVD.
Have over-installed DirectX 9b from Toca RD2

All is now fine, AND I have'nt had to mess around with drivers again.

Thanks/ appreciation all round!

I posted a message of thanks last night but see it's not showing yet (or ever). Is that what happens when you click the resolved box at the same time?
As suggested, a direct X problem, not a driver one.
Took Direct X from Toca RD2 and reinstalled.
All is fine now. Just needed pointing in the right direction!
Ta guys!
