i have a video card with dvi connecters and have just bought an Iiyama 24" HD monitor. (a beuatiful piece of work ahhhhhhh.........) what i was wondering would there be any additional benefit to buying a converter to allow the monitors hdmi port to be utilised.

I can't see that it would be any benefit with out an HDMI source output.

The only difference between HDMI and DVI is that HDMI carries audio. With DVI you need a separate audio connection.

In addition, with a television the HDMI output also carries an AV switching signal (like SCART).

i just upgraded to hd 24" last week and using hdmi lead not sure if its the lead or the hd part of the monitor but well impressed with the picture.

[did like the Iiyama but decided on the samsung in the end]

Thanks for the update.

Wonder if that applies to the newer televisions as well.
