dvds won't play

I've got advd that came free with a newspaper but it won't play.I get the messagge that the drive is empty.Other dvds will play.This one looks undamaged .
Is there anything I can try?

Dell media experince/real player
windows xp

also i've downloaded codecs but this doesn't seem to make any difference.

It's more likely to be Flash, Java or perhaps Shockwave that's required.

There are two versions of Flash Player - one for IE and the other for Firefox etc. See:

I've tried codecs but I still get the same problem.Some dvds will play but others won't.The dvds will work on other laptops but not on mine.
os xp
programs : dell media centre
windows media player 10
k-lite media player

I've tried vlc player and it doesn't work.I've downloaded codecs and it still doesn't work.
Don't know what to do?
