I am treating myself to a new desk top on my birthday, all the latest models have Dvds on them. Can I use this for playing film dvds from my TV box? or will I need extra software. My son has a Dvd writer on his new computer, can he make copies of his films for me. Shagrin

Yes you can watch a DVD on your televison using the computer.

BUT in order to do this you need a Graphics card that has a "TV-OUT" connection.

If your grpahics card has this connection then you can watch a DVD on your TV. If it hasnt this connection no you cannot watch a DVD on your connection.

if they are you own home made movies then fine. you are allowed to copy them.

as far as i know all DVD's can be copied, BUT
propper films, like ones you buy or rent from a video shop have a copyright!

IT IS ILLEGAL TO COPY!!!!

slap on the back of the wrists! ;o)

but yes it is possible ;o)
