What model dvd drive are you using?

Does it support DVD-R discs? Usually drives will write to either DVD+R or DVD-R not both.

Check the manual that came with your dvd drive for this info.

Are you using 2 different disc drives? One for reading the data from and one for recording? Or are you using one drive and swopping discs just before the burn?

Might be better to copy the data onto your hard drive and then burn the DVD-R from that rather than trying to directly copy it from the other disc.

As I understand it you have a DVD -R blank and you want to copy the contents of a DVD +R onto it?

I agree with CONNEN - try copying the files to your system first, then rewrite them in the other format.

I don't think you can change formats with a "disk-to-disk copy, as it's really a replicator rather than a file copier.
