DVD Writing

I'm having difficulty writing a large (7 gig) backup to a DL DVD.

The disc simply shows as RAW and none of my software will write to it

Anybody recommend some foolproof s/w? I've tried Nero and CD Burner.

In my view, a DVD is not reliable enough to store something a important as a backup.

However, are you using a backup program to do this? If so, then the program will tell correct procedure to follow. If not, you are inviting all sorts of problems later if you need to use the backup - that is even if you can get it on to the DVD.

No, I'm simply copying an Acronis *.tib file to DVD.

I certainly wouldn't like to rely on a Dual Layer DVD..:-)

I think we've moved a bit off the point here.

The fact that it was a back up I was trying to move is a bit of a red herring, and in fact I have now moved it to another computer over the network.

My problem is not reliability, but how to write to a DL DVD.

Now off to try eedcam's ref.

Which is simply a search engine.

Is there no decent, reliable DVD writing software that anyone can recommend?
