This may soumd a silly question, but is it possible to have write problems to ALL DVD disk writers if the PSU isnt powerful enough or is being overtaxed by other hardware items, i know its DC but it feels like i dont have enough amps to run laser powerfully. Sound stupid ? any answer will do. Thanks

Absolutely no personal experience of Vista, so my comments depend on XP Pro experience.

I don't think your problem is related to PSU issues.
If the PSU is overworked, (unusual) then other more primitive things would happen, like sudden shutdown or freezing.

Vista Ultimate probably includes software which by-passes the need for other software like Nero.

So either the DVD writer is wrongly configured or perhaps the drive itself needs a firmware upgdate.

If these suggestions solve nothing, then I'm sorry, but you did ask and it will bring your thread up again.

come to think of it, i have been having screen freezez, clock everything, never bothered with it as i thought it might be a Vista bug, I have updated firmware, and have tried numerous apps for burning, cant change drive anymore, is an IDE, so i could update to SATA, but very little else i can change

To a SATA Drive, clean as a whistle.
