DVD writer DOS Driver

I have installed a Samsung TS 552B DVD writer and have a question.
In the software instalation CD it gives you a Dos driver for the drive. A caution is shown that the driver is used to detect a DVD multi drive in MS-DOS and supports only the read function and that they (Samsung) recommend that you do not install the MS-DOS driver when you use the record button. It also suggests that you should check that the DOS driver is correctly installed by looking in Device Manager to check that the location has a No. 1 along side.

Should I install this driver? All seems to work ok without it but I probably havn't used the drive when in DOS. The location is shown as 0 in Device Manager.
