dvd wont recognise dvds

When putting various dvds in dvd drive it just won't recognise them saying 'a disc with an unsupported format in drive d', can anyone help?

thanks but i've got power dvd xp, would it not be better, it could be the dvd drive itself not sure cause its worked up until now?

Does the drive play shop dvd's ?

Is the drive listed in My Computer ?

Does the drive play audio cd's ?

thanks but i have firefox, yea its there in my computer and it plays audios but not shop dvd's still unsure?

If your refering to the Explorer title on the fix...it means windows Explorer and not Internet Explorer.

I think this is what you mean when you mention Firefox ?

Do you have any error codes ?

Are you trying to play home recorded dvd's that are recorded in another format ? if so what is the format ?

Maybe a codec issue click here
