DVD won't play

I've always played DVDs using Windows Media Player with no problems whatsoever. However I've just tried and failed to play two separate discs and get the following..." Windows Media Player cannot play the DVd because a compatible DVd decoder is not installed". Can anyone help please?

Thanks tullie, it's now working again. What I can't fathom out is just why I needed to install it as I've been playing DVDs successfully for three years with no problems, until today. Thanks too jack.
