DVD Will not play in 2000

  Matt.tt 11:23 03 Feb 2007

I have an old system build for win 98, but running windows 2000. I have recently put a dvd-rom drive into it, and installed Inter Actual DVD player onto it. When I try to play DVDs it says; "Playback failed due to a problem with the video sub-system. Lowering your screen reselution or colour depth may resolve the problem." - I have tried doing this and it does'nt resolve the problem.
I have also tried using AVS Dvd Player - Strusture of AVS is corrupt, Please re-install AVS DVD Player.
and Windows Media Player 9.0 - This does not recoginise there is a disk in the drive.

Any surgestions please?
