dvd to vhs

i want to transfer most of my films that are on vhs videos to dvd. i can make dvd films no problem as i have the right software.i run xp, have 40gb hd,but i would like to know what exactly do i need to buy & how is it done? is it a capture card or something like that i need, if so, what kind & how much are they?i have over 300 films & would prefer to keep them on dvd before they are lost forever through time.

A TV card will do the job. These start at about £30. My card is a Hauppauge WinTV. No problems and a very good TV picture.

Don't depend on DVD as being the perfect storage medium for your film collection. There are all sorts of horror stories amongst the DVD cognoscenti about DVD rot, delamination and a number of other dire things which all result in the same thing - the DVD is unreadable.
