DVD + RW problems

i have recently purchased an nec dvd writer for my pc and i have tried burnin my home movies onto a philips 4x DVD + RW disc and it plays ok on my pc, but when i try on on my pacific 1002 dvd player it just spins and spins without playing, i know it plays dvd rw but why not this one is their a particular brand that is suited better to my dvd player ? dont know can anyone help.

Some disks may not work on some players. Try different brand.

By the way, how you burn it. Burn properly as DVD movie or just put mpeg file on disc?

to copy onto it so should play ill try a differnt brand

"copy onto" is not correct way, you need to use dvd authoring.

Try click here. It has details of most home DVD players and what discs play on them. As they said up above it also depends on how you burnt it. If you used a DVD-authoring program it should have created a DVD standard format - such as VIDEO_TS. Your PC will be able to read it even if it is an MPEG or AVI but many DVD players need the DVD standard format to play movies correctly.
