DVD RW does not recognise blank DVD+RW discs

  Ganda 12:23 17 Sep 2006

Whenever I put a blank DVD+RW into my DVD RW to try and back up data or create a DVD the DVD RW only ever seems to recognise the disc as a CD disc. Any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

you have to use a third party programme with Windows

I use Nero

I was using NERO this morning to try and create a dvd and it kept on asking me for a disc even though I tried three new discs. Not sure but at one point it said that it did not recognise a DVDRW but a CDR/RW. This is no good if I want to create a DVD.

What version of Nero are you using?

Nero 6 which has about 10 different components to it such as back it up, express and burning rom se etc.

I take it that you told it to burn to DVD+RW and not CD. I don't use Nero but in Pinacle I have to physically tick the type of medium I am burning to, getting that wrong produces a faulty disk and a coaster.

a small point, but does the specifications of your DVD burner, facilitate the acceptance of the disc in question?

If you have Nero SmartStart it will ask first what type of disk you wish to create/copy etc.
